Article 1. Application and Eligibility
1. Which Category should I register for?
• For Age Category - contestants should apply based on their age as of 31 Dec 2025. For example, if you are born on 3 April 2012, then you should be applying for Age: Junior C – Age 14 and below
• For Graded Category – based on contestant’s piano examination grade,contestants can select 1 piece within the Exam Grade for submission.Repertoire can be selected from ABRSM, Trinity or LCM
• For Professional Category - contestants should apply based on their age as of 31 Dec 2025. For example, if you are born on 3 April 2012, then you should be applying for Professional category: Professional Category B for ages between 13-16.

2. Can I apply for more than 1 category?
• Yes, there is no restriction to the number of categories contestants can apply for the same repertoire, as long as the age and repertoire regulations are adhered to. For example, a 13 year-old contestant can apply to Age Category Junior C (1 piece), Graded Category Gr8 (1 piece), as well as Professional Category B for ages 13-16 (2 contrasting pieces)

4. When should I apply?
Online submission opens from 12 Jan 2026 and closes on 30 Apr 2026. Any submissions after the deadline will not be accepted. Apply Now
5. Can I edit my application after submission?
Submission confirmation allows applicants to verify and finalize. Once application form and video link has been uploaded, any amendments will have to be approved by AIYPC Administration Manager with additional charge. Please contact enquiries@aiypc.com for amendments
6. Are there restrictions on repertoire for this competition?

For Age Category, all musical genres and styles are welcome across the different age categories as long as the time duration is adhered to.

For Graded Category, contestants can select any piece of piano examination piece in the selected Grade as long as the time duration is adhered to.

For Professional category, 2 or 3 contrasting pieces from different periods are required (For example, Baroque vs Classical; Classical vs Jazz)

For submission of own composition, all styles of composition are accepted. Musical score of own composition must be uploaded as part of the application form.

7. Can I submit my own composition as competition piece?
Yes, we encourage original creation and artistic innovation! Submission must adhere to the same requirements of other categories.
8. Can I play a single movement of a larger composition (sonata, transcriptions from concerto, symphony or ballet) ?
Yes, you can play one or more movements of larger composition by clearly specifying which movement with the maximum time limit of the category entered.
9. Can I submit a longer video than the listed duration?
If you submit a longer video than the category time limit, assessment will only be based on the performance of the specific time duration of the category.
10. Can I use my old performance videos for the submission?
Yes. You can use a previous performance video recorded no more than 12 months prior to deadline of application (30 Apr 2026). You must update the video link for AIYPC with correct captions of category, name and composition (See Rules and Regulations Clause 5 “Video Submission Requirements”)
11. What are the Video Submission Requirements

12. Do I need to show my hand in the video?
Contestants must ensure their hands, face and foot on pedal are clearly visible in thevideo. Change in camera angle is acceptable but video must be taken in one shotwith NO EDITING allowed.
13. Can I withdraw from the competition?
Contestants who have submitted online application but decide to withdraw from the Competition will need to contact the Organizing Committee of AIYPC, email: enquiries@aiypc.com. Application fees will not be Refunded.
Article 2: What is the Payment Method?

2. Registration fees must be paid in full before deadline of 30 Apr 2026. Proof of payment via bank transfer payslip or screenshot must be uploaded with your application.
3. What is the Refund Policy?
AIYPC will only collect payment of registration fees once application is successfully submitted. Registration fees must be paid in full before deadline of 30 Apr 2026.
4. AIYPC does not issue refunds for any of the following, once the submission is completed.

5. Will I receive comments from the Jury after the competition?
• Unless otherwise decided by the Organizing Committee and Jury, Professional category contestants will receive comments on their performance from the Jury. All Age and Graded Category contestants will not receive anycomments on their performance
6. How do I obtain information and updates about the Competition?

Article 3: Results, Awards and Scholarship
1. What is scoring process and criteria?
The Jury Council of AIYPC will receive contestant performance videos and consolidate all entries by the respective Categories upon deadline date for assessment.
Jury council members will rate performances on a 100-point scale, a composite score considering overall performance quality, musicianship and technicality within each category.
AIYPC does not exclude scenario whereby multiple winners are selected within the same tier of the same category, as well as the possibility of a specific category goes unawarded if no contestants meet the scoring criteria.
Award Scoring Criteria follows the below standard:

1st PRIZE (trophy): 90 marks or above

2nd PRIZE (trophy): 85-90 marks
-
3rd PRIZE (trophy): 80-84 marks
-
Merit Award (medal): 75-79 marks
-
Performance Certificate: Below 75 marks
*Certificates will be awarded to all contestants

2. What are the key evaluation criteria for the scoring?
(i) Musical Awareness and Musicianship: understanding of the musical style of the performing piece demonstrating the characteristics of the specific genre and period
(ii) Performance Delivery and Focus: personal interpretation, expressiveness in the performance and individual creativity to bring out the nuances of the repertoire; confidence in mastering the delivery and ability to engage the audience.
(iii) Technicality Sustenance: clear and clean definition of articulation of the repertoire in rhythm flow, dynamic changes of tone, consistency of tempo.
3. How can I be eligible for the AIYPC Scholarship?
The scholarship for Rising Star Award is only eligible for the Professional Category contestants. The RM10,000 scholarship will be awarded based on the following:

The highest scoring contestant in the Professional Category across the 3 age groups

Should there be a tie in the scoring, the jury council will vote and deliberate on the winning contestant for the scholarship

Decision from the jury council is final and will not be open for appeal

The recipient of the Rising Star Scholarship must agree to represent AIYPC to participate in one of the European or International music competitions in 2026. For further details, please contact AIYPC Artistic Director on arrangement

If the recipient of the Scholarship is unable to, or decline to, attend any overseas competition, the Scholarship will be given to the runner-up as deliberated by the jury council.
4. Do I get a certificate if I don't win a prize?
Yes. All contestants will receive a certificate and digital certificate of participation irrespective of position.
5. When will the results be announced?
Results will be announced within 10 working days from the date of application deadline.
6. Will I receive a notification for the competition results?
Yes. Contestants will be notified via email when the results are announced, and winners will also be posted on AIYPC’s social media handles.
